I got creative

We've had to put my new, still-in-the-box elliptical in storage because it probably won't fit in the apartment. Just when I thought I was going to get somewhere on operation "get in shape," we had to go and sell our condo. My post-baby weight issue is especially annoying because it doesn't really have anything to do with Evan, at least not directly. I've known since my mid-twenties that in order to stay in shape, exercise would have to be my friend because dieting is not a viable option for me. I love food too much! Even though I lost almost all my "baby weight" within a few weeks of having Evan, I've steadily put a lot of it back on and the main reason is that I'm not exercising anymore. With the elliptical in storage and morning runs not being a great option either - I got creative. I've developed a mom friendly workout and all you need is stairs. I run up the stairs, speed walk around the upstairs, high-knee it back down the stairs, do a speed walk lap around the downstairs and then start over. I lasted about 15 minutes. My side hurt, I was way winded, and sweaty. Granted I'm super out of shape, but those symptoms have to mean that I was doing something right.

We've also started packing - not fun! How did we accumulate so much stuff? I do have a cute Evan story though. I was packing up our bookshelf yesterday with Evan and at some point he understood that I was putting books into the box and he was eager to help. He started pulling books off the shelf and putting them in the box too. I can't say that he was super helpful, but it made it less of a chore.

I am pretty sure he got my ability to organize, ha! :) It is so good he has so many smart people to take after :)

Good for you! I'm trying to so hard to get into the exercise routine and then I have to go and get sick!

That's so cute how Evan helped!

as long as you work up a sweat & get get the heart rate going, you can be as creative as you want. I've done similar types of things before.

I need to try your new exercise! I haven't been able to find the motivation to exercise either.

I am taking it one mile at a time...just 15 minutes if I can get it in, reaching for 20...slow and steady wins the race!
