Me time

I'm writing this at the tail end of my "me time," because I can hear Evan becoming more and more insistent over the monitor. I'm not sure how I spent his nap times before I started working out, but these days that pretty much defines this part of my day. At first I was reluctant to give up what little quiet time I had for something so unpleasant, but now in some crazy way, I've come to enjoy it. Not so much the exercising part, mind you, but the fact that it's all about and for me.

I suppose I could spend more than twenty minutes on the elliptical and maybe I'll get back to thirty someday, but I don't want to steal too much time from what comes after my workout. I take a long shower with my ipod playing in the background and I take as much time as I want getting ready. It's almost like my own reward system for the time spent exercising and it keeps me motivated. Once in a great while, Evan will bless me with an extra long nap and I'll even have a little time to read before he wakes up, but, not today...it's back to being all about Evan.

That's actually a very good way to spend a nap. I usually just stare at the walls mentally reviewing the very long list of things I need to do, trying to pick out which one is most important. By the time I decide, *POOF* the Toddler awakes.
