Yes, he's wearing a leash

We took Evan to the Children's Museum for the first time on Friday. As mentioned in my previous post, we had been up until 4:00 the night before, so we were pretty tired. The museum was packed, but Evan had a great time. He ran around pointing at things and saying "oooh." It was pretty cute. This was also his first experience wearing the leash. I was so glad we brought it. He wants to be down running around, but he's fast and with all of the people there, I felt much better knowing he couldn't get too far away from us.

I was a little worried we'd get, "oh my gosh, she put a leash on her child" looks, but if we did, I didn't notice. And if we had, I would have told them to "mind your own," because there were a lot of children there that needed to be minded. There were a few times Evan was almost knocked over by kids that saw him but just didn't care. I would tell them to be careful and to watch out for the "baby", but they just looked at me and kept going. Meanwhile, I didn't see anybody claiming to be their parents in the vicinity. That really irritated me - I mean, watch your kids! One of our jobs as parents is to correct our children when we see them doing something they shouldn't - how are you supposed to do that if you aren't there to monitor them?

Even though it was a little too crowded for our taste, it was a great day, and next time we just won't go on the most popular day of spring break. Watching Evan experience everything was so much fun. He was so excited by everything he saw - I hope it's a long while before he loses that child-like enthusiasm!

Looks like he had a great time! I agree, there are usually way too many kids there not being watched. It's annoying. I see lots of kids with "leashes". I might have to get one for Lucas when he's a toddler.

We tried one of those leases when we in Disney World last year and it didn't work out so well. It was sort of like trying to keep a hyper elephant nearby. Somehow, the kid would yank and yank and yank until we finally gave it up.

Looks like you had a lot of fun!

Looks like a lot of fun. Don't worry about the leash thing. We did the same thing. More to keep him safe from all those rude big kids.

We totally tried the leash thing with The Boy. Unfortunately, he completely FREAKED OUT and despite my attempts to ignore it, I had to take it off. Looks like a fun day, though!

It looks like Evan had a lot of fun! The leash looks like a great idea too. Now that Zane wants to be everywhere I feel like we'd lose him in a crowd!

You know me I love my leashes! Also, I think the animal "backpacks" are cute anyway and aren't as leash like...I think it was a very smart move on your part...but then again I also have major anxiety :-)

Yes, it didn't look too much like a leash, more like a backpack, so maybe that helped. That is too bad that other parents are so... oblivious to being a parent. Sigh. Kudos to keeping up with your bundle of energy!

I just don't get why so many parents forget about being a parent when they are out in public with their kids.

Looks like you had a great time!
