Happy 6 Months, Aida!

I've been a most delinquent blogger these days, but with Christmas break fast approaching, I intend to make up for it!

Aida was 6 months old on the 2nd, but she just went to her check up on Friday. She weighed 17 lbs and is 26 3/4 inches long. Jeff and I have been talking about how chunky she looks lately and I was sure that she'd caught up with Evan's 6 month stats. Not even close! Evan weighed 20 lbs 8 oz and was 27 1/2 inches long at his 6 month appointment. She's petite compared to him and that comes with a huge benefit - we get to hold on to her infant car seat a little longer! I'm not ready to give up the portable nap.

We started solids again and she has taken really well to them this time around. What a difference a month makes! She can almost sit up completely independently, but her favorite thing to do is to roll all over the floor. I'm hoping we have a little more time before she becomes completely mobile. Evan was crawling by 7 months, but it seems she'll be a little behind him on this one. And I'm OK with that! She's making all kinds of consonant sounds, and she must be some sort of baby genius because she knows how say her name. She's always screeching, "Aiiiidaaadaaadaaa"

And what about sleep? Well, until Friday we still weren't doing very well in that department. But Evan was at Grandma's for the weekend so Jeff and I decided to take the opportunity to make some changes in Aida's routine. There was definitely crying involved , but overall it was a success. We finally stopped swaddling her a few weeks ago, but this was the first time we've ever laid her down awake. She had gotten to the point where every time she stirred she needed to be nursed back to sleep, and that was exhausting and just not working for us anymore!

These are more pictures from Aida's first photo shoot with Mandy. We'll be doing her 2nd round at the end of January and I can't wait to see each installment!
