Ferber - 1, Evan - 0

So, tonight was night 4 of the Ferber method, and he didn't cry at all when we put him down for bed!! We are finally back to normal around here! Granted, the last few nights have been hard! Each night he cried for almost half an hour, but tonight he went down nice and easy - just the way we like it!! We were pretty frustrated, we do everything they say to do: we have an established bedtime and bedtime routine, his day is fairly structured as well, he takes naps during the day, and he has a transitional object for bedtime. I was reading about the "no-cry" methods and I kept thinking: check, check, check...but we do all that! Neither one of us were happy about letting him cry, but it worked...so we're thankful! I think that he has just had a harder time with this developmental stage than the others and our bedtime was paying the price. In the end he probably learned a valuable lesson from this experience: crying doesn't get him what he wants and he's not in charge. Hopefully this lesson will carry over to his daytime displays of defiance!
