I Hate Our New Apartment

And we haven't even moved in yet. This whole thing really sucks. Every time I think that something might work out, it doesn't. It's all the little things that you forget about when you have your own place - the washer/dryer, the microwave, your satellite service. They all seem so minor, but it's been a real pain figuring out all of the details. One of the things I'm finding is that it's really hard to find "short-term" anything and if you do, they charge you an arm and a leg for it! Let alone the idea that for every minute we rent, we're just throwing money away - on a storage unit, on a washer/dryer, and on the apartment. I can't stand the idea that I might be getting ripped off and I've felt that way a lot lately. Everything comes with extra costs: administration costs, application fees, deposits, pro-rated this or that, and installation fees. The problem is that some of this stuff we're going to turn around and do all over again when we buy our house! I think we'll be saving some money on the rent and utilities, but with all of these extras it feels like we're losing money!

I'm having such a hard time being positive about this, obviously, but I think it would be much easier if I knew we were moving in x amount of months or if we had a house waiting. I know that we'll be moving to a house sooner than later, but I don't know when or where and that makes it hard to look forward to. I have this awful fear that we'll be in this apartment indefinitely. Hopefully once we move and get things settled again we can focus all of our energy into being excited for our new house!

I'm like you about all that stuff and like to know the plan but atleast you guys are in a great position to buy a house, the hard part is selling one right now and you've done that. So hopefully it will fall in place soon! Evan is so stinkin cute!

We can feel your pain, but be happy you sold your condo, so when you do find that perfect house you can get it without worrying!
