Closed!

The end is near! We closed on our house yesterday after encountering a few speed bumps. One really great thing happened - we had to bring considerably less to closing than we had planned. Because we asked them to apply so much to our closing costs, we ended up coming out ahead. However, at the table when they presented us with our monthly payment, it was much more than we had been told. Supposedly they didn't have the correct property tax amount until just before closing. The exemptions had fallen off the property, so for the next 6 months or so, we'll be paying more than we had planned. We actually took a time-out from closing to consider our options. We prayed about it, talked to our mortgage guy, and went over the numbers again. Our appraisal came in high, and we couldn't walk away from all that equity, so we decided to go forward. We know that this is a temporary problem that will just require some re-budgeting.

We started work immediately and some friends came over to help with the laminate floor while my dad started on a wall we're building. I haven't taken any pictures yet, but I will today. One room is finished, but we found out that I didn't order enough floor and can't get more until Monday. The dining room will have to wait, but I was really impressed with how much they got done yesterday and it looks great! Thank you to everyone who has offered to help us either at the house or with Evan - It has been and will be much appreciated!!!

I'm pretty sure everything will be done by Tuesday and we'll be on target to move next weekend. Every time we step foot in the house, we love it more. We can't wait to call it home!!
