Colors, Finishes, and Lights, Oh My!

We had our inspection on Saturday and it went really well. The only thing we'll need to replace is the water heater, and that's minor. We've been squeezing in trips to home improvement stores all weekend and they've left us pretty stressed. There are a few choices we've been agonizing over: paint colors, accent colors, finishes, hardware for the cabinets, and lighting fixtures. The problem is that all of these need to work together and we're having trouble deciding where to start. We did find a great rug for the living room that we hope to use as inspiration.

We've basically had the same "look" in our living room since we got married and I'm really tired of it. Our furniture doesn't really lend itself well to change, but with all of the other upgrades, we can't afford to get a new couch. I'm typically not a fan of slipcovers. They only look good until you sit on them and then they look sloppy, but we found one at BB&B that we decided to try. It looks really good, it's like we have a new couch. The fabric clings really well and it's two pieces. The cushions have their own cover, which keeps everything in the right place. Its a rich chocolate color. Chocolate is a major player in our new color scheme! We made a lot of color decisions last night, so hopefully we can check that off our list
