To Cartoon, or Not to Cartoon

I believe, as evidenced in these photos, that Evan has taken a liking to cartoons. I've always tried to be cautious about how much tv Evan watches. I have to be honest, though, sometimes I really enjoy those fifteen-twenty minutes to myself while he's vegged out like this. Whenever he watched cartoons, it was because I needed some sanity so I sat him down and turned it to something colorful. Today all of that changed.

Evan went in to the den and started patting the tv (which he's not supposed to do,) and eventually I understood that he wasn't patting the tv to be defiant, he was trying to tell me he had a show to watch. Apparently, he was missing one of his "stories," and that needed to be remedied. We sat down together and watched the Backyardigans, but it was in that moment that I realized we had to start making conscious decisions about what and how much tv we want him to watch. I guess that means I might need to limit the amount of tv I watch too...No, No, not my friend in the other room!
