Nursery Rhymes 101

So, I went to our library on Friday for story time, which by the way, was really great - she told the story so well that Evan actually sat still on my lap for a whole 5 minutes. Anyway, they start the class with all of these songs and nursery rhymes that you're supposed to sing with your child. I felt very exposed, because I don't really know any nursery rhymes, at least not all the way through.

I, of course, pretended to be fluent in nursery rhyme and tried to sing along, but I'm not sure how well that worked. I kept feeling like the teacher was looking at us and thinking, "How sad, that poor child's mother can't sing with her son." I mean seriously, is there a class that everyone takes...was it offered by the hospital and I just missed it? Should I have skipped Infant Care and opted for Nursery Rhymes? I will be better prepared next time, though. I paid very close attention and we've been practicing ever since.

Don't feel bad, I missed the nursery rhyme class, too. I also apparently missed the kids' songs class. Alexis comes home singing things that I don't even remotely recognize. Oh well!

I bought baby songs videos and cassette tapes and listened to them all of the time with the boys. They loved those videos. I think they are corny but the kids listen to them so intently.

i feel the same way sometimes working w/ kids at church. but it gets easier when you're around it for a while, & after the first time you sing one of those songs, it stays w/ you forever!
