At least he'll be polite

Evan is making huge progress in speech therapy. She reassessed his vocabulary last week and he's up to FORTY words! That's actually in the average range, which means he wouldn't qualify for services anymore. But, she feels he's still not using his words the way he should, so he gets to continue.

The speech therapist always has tons of great suggestions, but some of them I'm not so sure about. The other day she told me to put a big log in our backyard so that we can turn it over and talk about all of the slimy, yucky bugs underneath. Then she recommended we make him a mud pit that he can dig, and play, and stain all of his clothes in. I love having a boy, but there are some things I'm not on board with - bugs and mud are two of those things.

I feel like every day he learns a new word - it's so amazing to watch that happen. Yesterday it was "thank you." He started saying please a few weeks ago, but I didn't think he was ever going to catch on to it's counterpart. Then at dinner last night he said it as plain as day. He may still be stubborn and opinionated, but at least he'll be mannerly!

I'm glad he's doing so well!!

I'm 5 1/2 yrs into this boy thing and I'm just now getting somewhat comfortable with bugs and mud. You'll get used to it ;)

You do need to come in, I haven't seen you or the little guy (okay, he's kind of big now!) forever! I am glad to hear he is doing so well. I can't believe how fast they grow.

I may need some advice soon, I will have no idea what I am doing!!
