Sick Day

I used to be the picture of health. Ok, so that might be an exaggeration, but I rarely ever got sick. Since being pregnant, I now average one cold per month. Evan and I take turns being sick. Sometimes I give it to him, but usually he's the infested one - either way, when one of us is sick, the other one almost always gets it. Don't ask me how Jeff factors into this equation, apparently he has an immune system made of steel.

I've been sick since last week with a strange head cold, but this morning (way too early, btw) we woke up to Evan coughing. After our pneumonia/asthma attack scare last month, I might be a little hypervigillant when it comes to things like coughing, but we decided to keep him home today. Of course, within a couple of hours, the cough went away and he seems to be feeling better, but I like knowing I'm here to keep an eye on him.

After managing to get a different shoe on each foot, Evan insisted on going "tside." So, once it warmed up a bit, we ventured out to do one of his favorite things - pick seeds off the trees. He calls them "little balls," and loves to collect them. It's nice to have the extra day with him, because this weekend, due to a rehearsal/wedding combo, Evan is going to Grandma's!

I have been where you are with the maybe asthma/maybe not diagnosis. In our case, we saw a specialist who determined that it was virally-induced asthma, which just means he ONLY has it when he has a cold. We just started our first cold of the season and I'm pretty much a wreck. I've got our steroids and nebulizer all set to go, just in case. My biggest problem is knowing if/when to use it. I hate not being certain. Hopefully, it was just a one-time thing and the little guy will be just fine. If you want to look for a silver-lining, at least Daddy knows how it feels...in our case we're all clueless.
