Ouch - with a double shot of coffee!

We had several friends over last night for New Years Eve and it was a lot of fun! There was tons of good food, game playing, Wiing, and my favorite...Champagne drinking! But get this - the party didn't end until 2:30 in the morning! Granted, that's because Jeff was engrossed in a heated game of Wii Madden, but still...

Most people don't know this about me, but I'm very much a night person. You'd never guess it on first glance, since I'm usually ready to pass out by 9:00. But, given prime conditions (mainly being able to sleep in the next day,) I can stay up all kinds of late. The problem is, that I'm very much NOT a morning person. So if I'm going to survive the day, I usually have to give up my late night aspirations.

The thing I miss most about my life without child is definitely the ability to sleep in. There's absolutely no recovery time when you have a child. You can stay up as late as you want, but you're still getting up at the crack of dawn. You can't snooze your child!

Evan didn't take a nap yesterday, much to our disappointment (which seems to be reoccurring even as I type,) so he was in bed by seven last night. He graciously slept in until 8:00, and after thirteen hours of sleep he was feeling pretty good. I gotta say, it's one thing to wake up feeling like garbage because you stayed up too late. But it's a completely other thing to wake up to a chipper, loud, and bright-eyed toddler who seems to be rubbing it in your face.

But, every now and then, a night like that is totally worth it!

I have a much easier time staying up all night than I do getting up at 5:30. MUCH easier.

Happy New Year!

We were up till 2 playing Wii Rock Band (what did we all do on NYE before the Wii!?!). I agree, I used to be a night owl too. But my kids have turned me into a morning person. An unhappy morning person, but a morning person non the less.
