Whoop Whoop!

I have a few things to be excited about today, but I'll start with the most obvious. We got like 10 inches of snow last night, so there's no school. I work in a school, and the company I work for gave us the day off so I don't even have to make up that time! If you've ever lived in an urban area, you know how big of a deal it is when they call off school (esp in the middle of ISTEP prep.) I grew up in the country, and we'd go days without school anytime it would snow, but this is (I think) only the second time in eight years that I've gotten a snow day. The plan: have pancakes for breakfast, stay in our pajamas all day, drink hot chocolate, and watch a movie!

The second is that our vacation is officially planned. Every year, we say we're going to take a family vacation, and every year, we wait so long to settle on the details that we're either out of time or money. Not this year!

We decided to go to Michigan and stay on the lake in a beach cabin. It took us forever to find a rental that we liked and that was also in our price range. But check out these pictures below...Can you tell why we were drawn to this one? That's right, it's like an IKEA catalog! I was surprised how expensive the beach rentals were in Michigan. I mean, it's not like it's the real beach! But, we're going in early June when the rates are lower, and we've opted for a cabin that shares a neighborhood beach, which also lowers the cost.

We're really excited! We'll be there a full week and it's only a 3 1/2 hour drive, which is nothing. We'll bring groceries, movies, and our sunglasses and spend the week chillin', laying on the beach, and occasionally hiking the dunes. Too bad all of that's still five months away!

Sounds like fun...and your 3.5 hour drive will beat our 20+ hour drive to Maine this summer :-)
