Last Day

Today is my last day of work. The students got out yesterday, so my only jobs are cleaning and organizing my office, saying goodbye to my fellow staff, and eating a free PTO lunch - not bad for a day's work. The plan is to head out after lunch and get some shopping in before I use up my last day of daycare.

The last two weeks have been super busy. My goal was to see every one of my clients (I have 30+) during these two weeks for closure and I made it, but just barely. Tuesday I saw 10 kids for therapy sessions - 10! I went to all of their grade level ceremonies and class parties. I got all of my paperwork in order for the summer. And today is my day of rest!

You know, I really do like working in a school. There've been plenty of times that I've considered other venues, and I've definitely had a few "unpleasant" school experiences, but I've found a great niche here and I don't think I could part with the school schedule. We still haven't fully decided what will happen when we have a second child, but every day I lean more towards returning to work. It has it's pros and cons, of course, but mostly I'm afraid of giving up the good thing I have going and then not being able to find it again when I do decide to go back. And, I love the breaks. I love the excitement and anticipation you can feel throughout the building all of May, especially today. Everyone is relaxed, and happy. The halls are quiet, except for the teachers laughing - you can't help but be in a good mood on the last day of the year!

Have a great summer! I'm worried about eventually going back to work and not being able to find such a good schedule. I've accepted it won't happen which makes me want to go back to work even less ;)

Thats great! Congrats! Have a fun summer with your son.

I feel the same about work, unless we have 3 kids and it just gets insane. Especially with design, I would probably have to take a class or two to update myself if I stopped working and wanted to go back later! Plus, it's good to have a break from the craziness of home. I am tired sometimes, but I think it is worth feeling satisfied with myself in the end!

i say it's definitely worth it! esp. since you only have to do it 3 days a week, why give that up - what you're good at?
