Out of the fog

I think our motto for these last 7 weeks has been "whatever works!" We've resorted to tactics that we never used with Evan. For instance, we went through a long stretch where Aida only slept in her swing. We've gotten that down to 50%, but as long as she's sleeping, we don't care how! Because sleep has been an extremely rare commodity around here! Some nights Aida will sleep well and then we'll hit a growth spurt like last week and sleep is all but forgotten. Her 6 week growth spurt hit us hard. Jeff and I spent a few days in zombieland, but then she broke through with a 7 hour stretch of sleep and redeemed herself. I'd say her average at night is 4 hours, and I can live with that. It's way better than two!

Breastfeeding continues to go well. Aida is exclusively nursing, and every time I discover a new roll or dimple I feel a sense of pride! She's started smiling and cooing more and when she's happy, she is soo sweet! Of course, when she's upset, the whole neighborhood hears about it. Her days have started to develop a slight pattern and that's been a huge blessing. I wouldn't call it a schedule yet, but we're getting there.

She's also started being much less fussy at night and has moved up her bedtime, which was something Jeff and I were really looking forward to. The other night we had both kids in bed by 8:30. It was glorious! Juggling two kids is still pretty stressful, and life will be easier when Aida is on a predictable schedule, but the fog has started to lift. A small portion of the normalcy that Jeff and I couldn't wait for 7 weeks ago has returned. We still have a long way to go, but I see progress every day!

Congrats! I thought I was over wanting a third kid, but these pics really made me question that decision ... adorable and love the cheeks especially!
