Memories

My Grandmother (dad's mom) passed away this weekend. We had been to see her a couple weeks ago and knew she wasn't doing well. I've since been reflecting on my Grandparents...Normally I would have described them as stoic, but this past year I've seen a different side of them both. When Evan was born they came to visit us in the hospital and Grandma was so taken with him, she held him for the longest time. She just gazed at him and smiled - I really enjoyed seeing her bond with him. When we went to visit her last, I had a chance to speak with Grandpa about how they were both doing and I could see his grief and his love for her - they were so tangible on his face and in his demeanor...I was overcome. Many of my memories are of them as stoic, but these are the ones I'll pass on to Evan and these are the ones I'll hold dear because they were full of love. I had a great picture that I wanted to add with this post, but it's saved on cd and packed away - it's of Grandma holding Evan in the hospital...you can imagine...

I too am sorry! I think about all my memories with my grandparents and I hope the girls are able to make some of their own too, at least the memories live on even though it is so hard. Let me know if you need anything!
