Rotating Tires

I have a few things I'd love to rant about tonight, but in the interest of time, I'm only going to choose one...my car.

Due to the crazy high gas prices, we made a budgetary decision to trade cars. Jeff usually drives our good car and I get the heap-of-junk (I promise he's usually much more chivalrous), but the Element can't match the heap-of-junk's gas mileage. So, another perk of working part time is that now I get to drive the good car!

We decided to make the switch on Monday, so I drove my car all last week. At one point in the week I hit a super huge pothole. I'm not really sure when it happened, because frankly, I hit a lot of potholes - it's just something I have a knack for, but I do remember hitting that one particularly hard. On Thursday when I got to work, I noticed my tire (yes, this one) was a little low so I did the most technically sound thing I know to do - I kicked it. My eyes and foot deduced the tire was in fact, low, so I decided to "keep an eye on it," because apparently tires re-inflate themselves given enough time.

I drove my car a little on Friday, but it's been parked in the garage ever since. Jeff was terribly excited to drive the heap-of-junk today (insert snicker here) and was oblivious to last week's tire concerns because I guess "keeping an eye on it," also means forgetting all about it, so I had failed to tell him - oops!

Needless to say, I got a very frustrated call from my husband as he was about to leave work...in the pouring rain...saying his tire was flat - how did that happen ;-)

2 hours and a few stops later, we were home. To think we could have avoided all of that trouble if only he had routinely checked his tire pressure this morning!

I take care of my tires religiously. NO tire is immune to Indiana potholes. I've had three replaced in the last two weeks.
Blech.
