A Slight Case of Baby Envy

I recently got word that a close friend had her second child this weekend. That night, I think a little baby envy snuck up on me. When we went in to "check on" Evan before going to bed, we accidentally woke him up. I told Jeff that I would make sure he went back to sleep and after he left the room, I committed one of our biggest no-no's - I picked my baby up and rocked him. Of course, as soon as I did, I remembered that at 30 lbs he's most definitely not a baby anymore!

I had been remembering how sweet it felt to hold him and rock him when he was little and thought I'd give it a try. Now that he's a toddler, and always on the move, a sleeping stupor is my only opportunity to experience that. And it was sweet - for about two minutes - and then he was heavy and awkward and I realized there was little chance of getting him back in his crib without waking him up again.

I'm not really the type to get crazy over babies, but having a second has been on our minds lately so maybe it was God's way of tugging at my reproductive strings...

Congratulations to Drew and Lindsay - Noah is so cute and we can't wait to meet him!!

New babies get me everytime! I saw a newborn yesterday at the museum and definitely had some baby envy and mine is technically still a baby. Go for it ;)

I avoid new babies like the plague. It's so hard to remember that they never sleep when they are looking at you with the big eyes and are being their cute little selves.
