Our neglected lawn

Our lawn is currently sticking out like a sore thumb in our neighborhood. Granted, it's not really our fault - the home was vacant for a year and a half before we bought it in the dead of winter. People in our edition really take pride in their lawns and you can tell they've spent a lot of money on landscaping. That's money we're not used to spending, we've lived in a condo for the last 3 years.

Several of our neighbors use lawn care services and even though we'd decided that wasn't in our budget and we were going to try and ressurect the lawn ourselves, we caved. Frankly, we don't know the first thing about lawn care, so we're bringing in the professionals. We'll still be doing the mowing and yard work, but the making it look green and pretty part we're going to let them handle.

It's funny though, because I'm not sure we would have given it as much thought if we'd moved to a different neighborhood. We don't want to fall into the trap of "keeping up with the Jones'," but we also don't want to be our cul-de-sac's black sheep.

We'll see if this works, he assured us that the lawn will look less dead - hopefully he's right.

we kind of have similar problems w/ our yard (things that aren't our fault - downhill, a small river at the bottom, etc) and we don't really know what our plan is yet for planting things to look neat. Travis say he can do it though, so we'll see! as long as i have my white cherry blossom tree in the front, i'm fine.
