The day my son smashed a lamp over my head

This morning Evan and I were hanging out in the den watching cartoons. Well, he was watching cartoons and I was half watching Psych on the laptop and half watching him watch cartoons. (Yeah, so apparently, tv series have become my new thing.) Evan started playing behind our floor lamp, so I gave him a warning or two. After it became clear he wasn't going to pay me the least bit of attention, I got up and pulled him away from the lamp.

I sat back down and was immediately hit by the lamp. The thick glass of the globe broke over my head. And do you know what my first thought was - how all those movies and tv shows are liars when they show someone being knocked out by a vase to the head. It hurt. It definitely hurt. And I worried for a few minutes that I had a concussion. But I was fine. Rattled, but fine. Maybe I won't bother with warnings next time!
