Gettin' creative up in here

Since we moved into our house last January, there have been lots of projects we've wanted to complete and things we've wanted to buy, but because of time and money, we've had to prioritize. Now that we're nearing the end of this year's outdoor projects, we're turning our focus back on the indoor ones. We have yet to buy an ottoman/coffee table for our living room, we still have virtually nothing on our walls, and we haven't even touched our bedroom, among many others. Because our wish list doesn't exactly match our bank statement, we've decided to DIY.

We're still using living room furniture leftover from Jeff's bachelor days, and we've been looking for the perfect sectional since we moved. We finally found it and it should be delivered within a few weeks. In the meantime, I've decided to make my own ottoman. I looked up a few how-to articles and it looks pretty simple, so that's going to be my project.

Jeff, of course, is in charge of all things art related, so he's going to be doing a huge double-wall painting in our dining room that I'm really excited about. He's been showing me all sorts of really cool graphics and I can't wait for the finished product.

The project we've been working on together is a new headboard. We didn't bring my old bed with us when we moved out of the condo, and we've been looking for the right frame and headboard ever since. After not finding anything that we really liked, we've decided to make our own upholstered headboard. From there we'll probably piece together the rest of the bedroom furniture, with help from IKEA as always.

Wish us luck and that we don't staple anything we'll regret!
